Profession of Faith Class

Pastor Jerry will be offering a Profession of Faith Class for any young person contemplating making a Public Profession of Faith in Christ. Class will begin Sunday, February 9, 2020 at 4:30 and will run for 8 weeks. Each session will run 1 hour.

Valentines for College Students

Once a year your deacons officially show Bethel’s love for our college students by purchasing gift cards and sending them snail mail for Valentine’s Day. If you would like to contribute, there are envelopes on the oval table in the back of the sanctuary. Those envelopes can be placed in the regular offering on 1/26, 2/2, or 2/9 or you can give it to any Deacon. Checks can be made out to Bethel Deacons or we accept cash 🙂 We have 9 students this year, and we appreciate the congregation’s support.

Sunday Annoucements

We will be starting a new method for our Sunday announcements.  Beginning on Feb 2nd, if you have an announcement for the congregation, please print it on a card and give it to Pastor Jerry before the service. Pastor Jerry will begin sharing the announcements at 9:30 and then he’ll lead us into Sunday worship. Remember to get your announcement to the office before Wednesday at noon if you want it to be in the bulletin or projected on the screen.

Conversations with Coffee

On Monday January 20th at 7:00 p.m. at MoCo we shall begin a series of conversations with coffee. The format will be an interview with a guest followed by questions from the audience. Our first conversation will be with Dr. Murat Tanyel. We will talk about how Murat came to faith in Jesus, how his life has and is being transformed by Christ’s Spirit and Word. As well we want to hear of his desire to share the gospel with others raised in an Islamic background. On Monday February 17th we will have a conversation with Dr. Dean Smith. He is the former Chairman of the Bible Department at Geneva College.  We will talk with Dean about the Holy Spirit’s wonderful ministry in
Scotland’s Presbyterian Churches. Pastor Dodds is already starting to plan for other conversations. Please pray for these community events.  Bring your non-church going friend to them. The coffee and refreshments are free at these events.

Welcoming People!!

You just found a place to sit and there’s a new face in the crowd, a few pews away. After the service ends, you go over to introduce yourself and get to know them, but after a few welcoming words, everyone heads out. You hope they'll be back next week…

Starting in January 2020, we’ll have a dedicated time to visit right after: our worship service is moving to 9:30 a.m., with Sunday School to follow. Between the two, there’ll be a 15-minute time for coffee and donuts in the Fellowship Hall. After you introduce yourself at the end of service, why not invite the newcomer for a cup of joe and a donut so you can chat some more?

Who knows, maybe they’ll even join you for Sunday School.

The 9-12th grade Sun. School class will once again be packing Action Packs to send to displaced Christians around the world.  Please join us for the month of Nov. as we collect the following items to send:

Blankets, towels, bed sheets, solid color T-shirts, knit hats, jacket/windbreakers, bars of soap, sweaters, socks, and gloves or mittens.  There will be a basket in the coat room to collect the items.

Thank you!
